My translations are suspended, now what?
If you notice that your Clonable site is no longer translating new content, your translations have likely been suspended. This status prevents the system from processing new pages or updates while ensuring your existing translated content remains live and accessible.
Why are my translations suspended?
There are two primary reasons why Clonable might pause your translation services:
- Unpaid Invoices: If there is an outstanding balance on your account, the translation engine is automatically paused.
- Page Limit Reached: Your current subscription plan has a set limit on the number of pages that can be translated. Once this quota is exhausted, Clonable will stop translating any new URLs it discovers.
How to Resume Translations
Depending on the cause, you can resolve the suspension using the following steps:
1. Settle Outstanding Payments
Check your billing dashboard for any failed payments or open invoices. Dashboard > My Subscription > Billing info (https://app.clonable.net/my-account/billing)
Once the payment is successfully processed, your translations will resume automatically.
2. Upgrade Your Plan
If you have reached your page limit, you can instantly resume translations by upgrading to a higher tier or adding an Addon.
- Go to: Your Dashboard > My Subscription
- Action: Select a plan or Addon that accommodates a higher page count.
Long-Term Management: Using Exclusions
To prevent hitting your page limit in the future, it is best practice to exclude pages that do not provide value in a foreign language (e.g., login pages, admin panels, or specific media folders).
Setting up Translation Exclusions
By telling Clonable which parts of your site to ignore, you save your page quota for your most important content.
- How to do it: Navigate to Advanced Settings > Page Exclusions. You can exclude specific URLs or use patterns (like
/admin/*) to block entire sections. - The 90-Day Rule: When you remove a page from Clonable or set an exclusion, that page is only removed from your total "translated page count" 90 days after excluding the page.
- Pro Tip: It is much more efficient to set up exclusions before the pages are crawled and translated. This ensures they never count toward your subscription limit in the first place.
