How does the Case Senstive setting work?

In the digital world, Case Sensitivity is the difference between a system being "strict" or "flexible" with capital letters.

  • Case Sensitive (Strict): Treats Apple and apple as two completely different words.
  • Case Insensitive (Flexible): Treats Apple, APPLE, and apple as the exact same word.

1. Translation Settings

In the Translation Replacements and Exclusions sections, you will see an Aa icon you can select on (orange) or off (grey).

  • If OFF (Default/Flexible): Clonable is smart. If you replace "train" with "trein," it will automatically handle "Train" to "Trein" and "TRAIN" to "TREIN" for you. You don't need to add the word three different times.
  • If ON (Strict): Clonable will only replace the word if the capitalization matches exactly what you typed. This is useful for brand names or technical terms that must remain lowercase or uppercase.

2. Advanced Settings: Substitution Rules

Under Advanced Settings, the logic is reversed for more control. By default, Substitution Rules are Case Sensitive.

  • The Default State: The rule will only trigger if the text on your site perfectly matches the casing in your rule.
  • The "Case Insensitive" Checkbox: If you check this box, the rule becomes "flexible." It will apply to the text regardless of whether it is written in UPPERCASE, lowercase, or Sentence case.

Why should you care?

Using Case Sensitive saves you time. Instead of creating five different rules for "Contact," "contact," and "CONTACT," you just create one. Only use the Case Sensitive option when you need surgical precision for a specific term.
